Grow + Glow Workshop
What We’ll Be Talking About
Grow + Glow is gentle, age-appropriate, and designed to help girls feel calm, confident, and proud of their changing bodies. We introduce topics in a simple, respectful way. Nothing is graphic and our pace is thoughtful.

A Note on What We are NOT Talking About
Grow + Glow focuses on puberty and body confidence. We intentionally do not cover sex education, male anatomy, or how babies are made. These topics are important, and they’re outside the scope of this workshop.
Expert guidance supports introducing sexual reproduction later, as children are developmentally ready. More detailed sex education typically expands in the later pre-teen years to include reproduction, relationships, and related health topics.
We keep Grow + Glow centered on puberty so the information remains clear, age-appropriate, and grounded in confidence-building for girls. This approach allows caregivers to lead the next conversations in ways that feel right for their families.
And stay tuned! We may thoughtfully expand into those topics in the coming years.
-
We begin by intentionally setting the tone for the day.
Light Icebreaker Activity – A simple, fun activity helps everyone relax, connect, and feel comfortable in the space.
Gentle Grounding Moment – We guide the girls through a short, age-appropriate meditation to help them settle their bodies and focus their minds (yes — it’s calm and fun).
Clear Expectations – We briefly explain what the workshop will cover so there are no surprises.
This opening isn’t about heavy content. It’s about helping girls feel safe, welcomed, and ready to learn in a pressure-free environment.
-
In this section, we introduce puberty in a positive, age-appropriate way. This helps girls to see it as a normal part of growing up.
What We Cover – We explain what puberty is using simple, clear language and talk through the physical and emotional changes girls may begin to notice.
How We Teach It – Girls engage in a fun “Body Superpowers” activity that highlights how capable and intelligent their bodies are.
Why It Matters – Understanding what’s happening in their bodies helps girls feel less anxious and more confident as they grow.
-
In this section, we gently explore what puberty looks and feels like. For some girls, this information is brand new. For others, it may connect to changes they’ve already started noticing.
What We Cover – We talk about the changes that happen inside the body, the changes that may be visible on the outside, and the emotional shifts that can come with growing up.
How We Teach It – We explain each change clearly and calmly, using confident, shame-free language that keeps the tone positive and reassuring.
Why It Matters – Girls learn that puberty happens in its own time, and that every body develops when it’s meant to.
-
We build on the changes that come with puberty by sharing simple, supportive ways that girls can care for their changing bodies and emotions.
This section is designed to leave girls feeling capable.
What We Cover – We normalize common changes like oilier skin, and stronger sweat. We talk about everyday habits that support growing bodies, including hydration, nourishing food, and sleep.
How We Teach It – We frame body care as a simple routine, and gently remind girls that questions and support are always welcome.
Why It Matters – Girls learn that growing up is ongoing, and that trusted adults are there to support them along the way.
-
In this module, we introduce the female reproductive system in a simple and age-appropriate way. For many girls, this may be brand new information, so we keep the tone calm, clear, and matter-of-fact.
What We Cover – We explain that the reproductive system is the body system that makes periods possible and introduce the basic parts using a simple diagram.
How We Teach It – We use correct anatomical terms in a confident, neutral way and focus on what each part does, rather than detailed information.
Why It Matters – When girls learn that these body parts are normal and important, it reduces shame and builds comfort in understanding how their bodies work.
-
In this section, we explain what a period is in a clear, calm, and age-appropriate way. Many girls have questions, so we focus on clarifying information with confidence and ease.
What We Cover – We define what a period is using simple, factual language and introduce the menstrual cycle as a natural monthly pattern in the body.
How We Teach It – We walk through the four phases of the cycle at a high level, helping girls understand how energy, mood, and needs can shift throughout the month.
Why It Matters – When girls see their cycle as rhythmic and purposeful, it feels less mysterious and more manageable. Understanding the pattern helps them feel prepared and empowered.
-
In this module, we talk honestly and positively about what happens when periods begin. We keep the tone upbeat and reassuring.
What We Cover – We gently clear up common myths, and describe what girls might notice during their first cycles.
How We Teach It – We introduce period products in a calm, hands-on way so girls can see and understand their options in a comfortable setting.
Why It Matters – When girls know what to expect and feel familiar with their choices, uncertainty turns into confidence.
